untitled

US 2006 version VP-16 amp uses classic design utilized with two dual-triode 6SL7 (metal based) tubes for preamp and drive stages (class-A), and with four Chinese military version 6V6GT (black glass) tubes for output stage. It produces superb sound at max 18 Watts per channel with push-pull operation. Three line inputs (gold RCAs) and 8 Ohm or 4 Ohm speaker outputs (large 5-way gold binding posts). The 6V6GTand 6SL7 are long-time favor of most audiophiles. New VP-16 uses direct input coupling without signal bypass capacitors. The US 2006 version uses gold PCB and tube sockets and key resistors are upgraded with Allen Bradley NOS resistors. The side panels are also different from previous ones.

The frame uses chromed steel chassis and wooden piano gloss cheeks. Gold plated RCA and speaker jackets. It uses high quality transformers and optimal designed board with true audiophile grade components:

Coupling Capacitors

Auricap

US-made, world finest capacitor. (US version exclusive)

Resistors

AB- Allen Bradley

!

US-made, Allen Bradley NOS resistors. (This 2006 model only)

PCB

Gold (not copper or sliver)

Dared had tried copper/silver PCB and pure point-to-point wire, the gold PCB performs best. Even most of >$5000 amps do not offer this! (This 2006 model only)

Tube sockets

Gold contact (not copper)

Even most of >$5000 amps do not offer this! (This 2006 model only)

Solder/Wires

Lead-Free solder, Silver and high grade OFC wires

Lead-free (full CE compliance). No messy/lengthy wires, no thin wire jump connections in this amp!

Transformers

HQ customized

QA oxygen-free high-conductivity copper (OFHC) and high permeability Si-steel (Silicon steel, Hipersil from Japan) sheet coil adopt sectionalized, stratified and strands parallel winding.

Signal wires

Pure sliver (shield)

From RCA inputs to the volume pot

Frame/design

Chromed Steel chassis, wooden piano gloss cheeks (there is no single screw can be seen on the surface of this amp -- beauty)

The panels use the wooden piano gloss cheeks (I cannot find any other amp on the market like this). The chassis and internal layout of 2006 model are considerably improved.

Volume Pot

HT audiophile grade

Dared had tried many other brands, and found the Taiwan-made HT perform best on this amp.

Filter capacitors

Nippon, Nichico

Japan made

Tubes

Shugaung

6V6GT, 6SL7

It has good transient response and produces precisely details, incredible soundstage and very high-resolution sound. This one blows most $1000-amps out of the water! If you have been listening to a solid-state Amp and never had listened to a Tube amp before, try this one. I am sure you will like the excellent tube sonic characteristic of this amp and you may never go back to your solid-state amp. This amp is stereo (two channels only) and has three inputs with a select switch so you can connect CD player, Tuner, and Tape player or other sources. There are three speaker taps each channel; one for 8 Ohm, one for 4 Ohm and other one is ground. This is brand new and sealed in original box (all tubes, manual, and power cable are included in the original box). This amp will glow neon blue in dark from a single LED at frame base. It just glows beautifully in the dark.

The VP-16 uses 6V6GT power tubes, unlike VP-10 use EL84 tubes. Many audiophiles love the classic 6V6GT tube sound. Plus, VP-16 use 6SL7 as preamp and drive stage, the sound of this amp is very impressive! Although both VP-16 and VP-10 output about max 18 watts per channel, I personally prefer 6V6 than EL84 tubes. Note: the 6moons has a great review on this amp (but 2005 model, though. This 2006 model is even better with gold PCB, gold tube sockets, Allen Bradley NOS resistors, wooden piano gloss cheeks, and with SANYO QC management like the MP8), and also there was a great review on May issue of 2003 Stereophile Magazine (p.27 - 29) for Dared VP-10 amp. Read the review articles, you will love this new amp.

The VP-16 shall work well with a tube friendly speaker (click here to see).
